At about 9 this evening I received the following call:

Hello Springfield resident, if you would like to learn more about an exciting new church in your area, please press one.

Evangelicalism is dead.

  1. Wow, that is just sad. It’s almost like they are doing that to “check it off the list”.

  2. if that’s the best it can do, then it probably should be dead…

…at least that’s my gut feeling. of course, i feel compelled to make the usual disclaimer: If God wants to use something as lame as telemarketing to lead someone to Christ, who am I to criticize?

there, i’ve said it…but i prefer my gut feeling.

  3. For me, it wouldn’t be as bad if there would have been a person on the other end. It’s still bad, but not quite as bad as listening to a recording.

  4. ‘If you would like to writhe in agony, immersed in hellfire and brimstone for all eternity, press two.’

  5. Jared, are you sure you don’t work for Chick tracts?

  6. Yep..more proof that evangelicalism has failed and continues to fail. Ted Haggard helped drive the stack in the heart of it. Now that John McCain is the Republican nominee, it’s all but over!!! Yippy!! May authentic incarnational 1 Cor 13 Christianity can grow in our hearts and in others.
