It might be a little late to be linking to this, but The History of Rome podcast just had a show about the Roman origins of Christmas. There are a lot of good cultural and theological points in understanding how and why Christmas came to be celebrated on 25 December.

Yes, I can see how the concept of “read the whole article before you comment on something” would seem to a churchman of Rev. Wilson’s environment to be entirely the stuff of legend. :-) Hint, read the interview to see the hit job for yourself.

The top toys from the 1985 JC Penney Wishbook. The one that still pains me is the G.I. Joe U.S.S. Flagg; my brother and I begged our parents for months to get that, all to no avail. I’m still bitter about it.
